Lust List - Vol. 1

While brainstorming new ideas for the blog, I thought I would follow the footsteps of bloggers before me who list products they are lusting over. Mostly, my lists will consist of items I could possibly do without (passing on the latest perfume 'gotta have' is probably not going to shatter my world --I don't think, it's not often I put not getting perfume to the test).

I think this will be an easy update because I seem to always have things in my Sephora cart, or Amazon, or Nordstrom ....

This month, I gotta have these seven things:

1. Cricket Ultra Smooth Hair Dryer - I have a perfectly functioning hair dryer that I purchased a few years ago when the hype was big on the tourmaline ionic dryers. Problem is, I can't find it. Whenever I can't find household items such as this, I'm convinced I've been burglarized. For one thing. Someone entered my house, stole only my hair dryer and left. At my worst, I've secretly accused house guests of sticky fingers. My bald brother in law--he remains suspect one. My back up dryer is not fancy and loud (the horror!). It simply has 1800 on the side and an on/off switch. This new dryer that I want, The Cricket, it has an Argan Oil and Keratin Protein infused outlet filter. Essentially, you're blow drying your hair with heat waves of super healthy, not to mention trendy, Argan Oil. What!? I want. It also boasts wind speeds up to 59mph. So what I'm telling you is that it could also be used as a self defense instrument to keep bad guys at bay. I better not point it at Fannie, my seven pound dog ...59mph could send her clear across the room.

2. Orgins Drink Up Mask - When I worked for Delta Airlines and would travel on my free passes all the time, I used this Orgins mask to combat the drying in-flight air. I loved it. Lately, even though I'm not flying as much anymore, my skin is getting seriously dry in patches. I still have oily skin but the addition of these pesky dry patches on my cheeks and forehead have me frustrated and confused. I haven't met a hydrating mask that I've liked as much as this one from Orgins.

3. Supergoop! Forever Young Handcream with SPF - other than hating the brand name, supergoop, everything else about this hand cream has me interested. Do you ever look at the backs of people's hands? They seem to have a hard time combating the signs of aging. Moisturizing definitely helps but I think the addition of SPF gives this an extra helping hand.

4. Burberry - My Burberry Perfume - Burberry perfumes have never been a strong attraction for me. I currently have one summer flanker in my collection that I like a decent amount. But this new addition, My Burberry, well, it's the first time I've "gotta have" one of their perfumes. Sweet pea, bergamot, geranium, golden quince (oh I'm a sucker for that quince), freesia, patchouli, rain tipped damask (what the...?), and centifolia roses. Rain tipped damask, really!? I'm slightly concerned about the geranium and patchouli, I'm not gonna lie.

5. Ikea Mongstad Floor Mirror - I have the perfect spot for this in my family room. A room that is almost complete, except for 5 or ten things. My only hesitation is the width of this mirror. The wall I want to lay it up against could use a mirror that is just a couple of inches wider. But for the price and style, this Ikea mirror will do just fine.

6. Tatcha Polished Rice Enzyme Powder - I ordered a starter kit from Tatcha that arrived impeccably packaged. It was total lush. The enzyme powder was my favorite item in the kit and I'm thrilled that Sephora is now selling Tatcha. My skin felt like smooth butter after using this product. Can't wait to get my hands on it!

7. Sugar Lip Treatment with SPF - I'm kinda in love with the tint of sugar honey. Being the second item with SPF on my list, it's probably obvious that I'm a bit obsessed with suncare. As big of a seller that the Sugar brand is, it's surprising to me that I've never ventured to pick one up but I've always had a hard time with the price tag. $22.50 for a lip balm, that's ballsy.

I'm sure a couple of things on my wish list will be passed over as soon as I prioritize my wants versus serious wants versus needs. Let's just forget about the needs column this month, I'm not seeing too much that would qualify.

WAX WANTS

1. Flaming Star Scents - when I read Lauren's review of FSS's wild strawberry pomegranate, I got that curious itch to order from a vendor that I haven't ordered from before. Unfortunately, the website isn't stocked but I'm going to keep checking.

2. Streetman Company Store - I type 'STR" into my search field and I'm automatically taken to SCS's website. Google knows me so well! Julie raved about Salt & Lime and I have to have this in my life right this very second. I also need more sweet spearmint, my last order didn't include the body cream.

3. Rosegirls - Two words. Mini Melts. February 1. I am more excited for this than the custom opening announcement. I have to know, is there anything that is on your must have list? Do tell!

***edited to add***

4. Sassy Girl Aroma - As I was adding the links for the wax wants, I remembered a conversation with my girl Melissa. She was telling me that SGA is getting.it.done. I just moseyed over there and what do you know? I have three chunk bags in my cart: pink sugar strawberry patch, wildberry mousse serendipity zucchini and pink spearmint noel. It would be such a shame if I didn't check out ;)

Have a great Monday!

  1. Sunneeeeeeeee!!!! I have been lemming that IKEA mirror for two years now. We have no full length mirrors in our home and this one (in brown) wants to be in our bedroom. I keep telling myself I will get it, but then other shiny things arch my eye. Like Mini Melts. Ugh. Dang wax and smells.

Your hair dryer story had me laughing :-) hope it moves to the NEED list!

  2. Love your lists! I have used the Sugar balm -- I got it awhile back as a gift. It is nice, for sure--but I agree about the steep price tag for a balm!

And mini-melters: OMG! I can't wait!!!!!! Especially since I've never placed a Rosegirls order before! I have been making a list of the bags I want to get. So far, I'm going to start pretty small, and I hope to get:
    Absolute Coffee
    Apricot
    Cherry Almond
    Cream Cheese Frosting
    Hot Fudge Brownie
    Lemon Biscotti
    Mango Sorbet
    Marshmallow Smoothie
    Pecan Waffles
    Pink Chiffon
    Raspberry Coconut
    Southern Creme Brulee
    Strawberries & Cream
    Sugared Jasmine
    Wild Honey Bee
(That list doesn't seem too small when I write it out! LOL) In fact, I've been meaning to go back to your Rosegirls posts and see some of the combos you posted, as a guide for potential bag orders. Exciting!

And I've been wanting to try Tatcha as well. I think I'll be buying a starter kit soon -- I nearly did in December. One item that I'm jonesing for right now is Do Not Age with dr. brandt eye cream. I have some samples of it from Sephora, and it is AMAZING. It's also very concentrated, so I think I'll be able to talk myself into it when the time comes, as it's a bit expensive. Between my fair skin, wearing contacts, and being 44, though, I believe my eyes NEED it.

Have fun fulfilling your list dreams! :D

  3. @Julie - we must work on getting the mirror this year. I've had my eye on the mirror for a couple of years as well. What if they quit making it soon!

@futurowoman - OHMYGOSH your list! I've been staring at it for ten minutes, it's just so lovely! I'm imagining all the yummy concoctions you're going to be making. Feb. 1 is almost here!
The Dr. Brandt eye cream just went on my next list. I'm a huge sucker for a good eye cream. TY!

  4. LOVE THIS POST!!! Keep things like this coming, we love to know what you're wanting! I have always had my eye on that Sugar Lip Treatment, really any Sugar lip treatment! There are many good things said about it online. Cool mirror, love Ikea! is that supergoop one of Gwyneth Paltrow's goop things? Or is the goopingness of the goop a coincidence? Mini melters ahoy!! :D

  5. I had also purchased best hair dryer for my hairs few years ago. I never got any issue in handling it. It is so light weight. Your hair dryer story is different and I loved your post. Hey you know I also love Burberry perfume.
