Glitterati Haul (Part One) - March 2016

Custom orders from The Glitterati Candle Co. are hard to come by. One must have a combination of being very lucky in addition to being able to perform quickly under pressure for the chance to order whatever you want from this much loved wax company.

There is no website, no newsletter, no storefront. There is a list and that list is everything. If your name is on that list, you were online, in the Glitterati facebook group and your fingers were hoppin' to it when the designated time arrived. Even if you were all those things, chances are you still failed to secure a custom spot before the predetermined number of names were accounted for.

It's okay. It's happened to the best of us. It's definitely happened to me.

While the disappointment is there, I sleep easy knowing that 1. I have a nice stockpile of Glitterati to keep me melting happily 2. I'm on the sampler list and 3. my last custom order just arrived!
More about the ordering process a little later. For now, take a look at what I've been sniffing lately!
Scent shots! This is the first time I've ordered scent shots and I'm tempted to only order them from now on. As much as I love Glitterati chunks, they are huge and require cutting. I'm not a fan of handling any wax, but Glitterati wax is especially messy so if I get great performance out of these shots, I might stick with them for future customs.
I ordered 2 cups in each scent. Scent shots are $1.75 each.

strawberry punch bread - not my favorite strawberry because it veers towards a cherry cough syrup. I can pick up a hint of the bread note which makes this blend remind me slightly of strawberry pretzel dessert (also not my favorite).

pumpkin pecan waffles / ice cream scoop bread / blueberry - did I mention that you can custom blend scent shots? You can! PPW gets even creamier with a little ice cream in this blend. The blueberry's input is a soft spoken sourness that works well.

serendipity / tropical bomb / toasted coconut - tropical bomb isn't on the scent list anymore and I can't remember exactly what it was but judging by the likes of this blend, it was pretty good. umbrella drink, beach, book and this blend.

creamy strawberry lemon - smells like a starburst, much heavier on the lemon than the strawberry. super strong

strawberry margaritas - another candy like scent with added fizziness and lime. nice and fruity.

watermelon / pomegranate / fresh pear - oh so good. a delicious, mellow sweetness that's not too sugary.

serenity spa - strong, calm and masculine (that's my kind of guy, btw). this comes off a little soapy but in a good way, a little fruity and a whole lot of freshness.
boo berry country fair - love this. it's a cereal first and foremost. country fair is cotton candy, funnel cakes, ice cream and donuts. this combo is bakery heaven.

salty sea air / tart fruit / white tea - come to mama. I was in the mood to experiment with fresh scents this go round. I wanted to combine them with fruits to see how they pair. The answer is wonderfully. I smell all three scents equally in this blend and I want several large bakery bags of this. It's a tad sweet but clean smelling at the same time.

bergamot / salty sea air / pink sugar - a clean, soapy scent with girly sophistication.

citrus sunshine / watermelon - watermelon meets grapefruit, mangosteen and peach. Lots of peach then the watermelon with just a hint of the grapefruit mangosteen.

salt water taffy - not my cup o' tea. too cough syrupy for me.

lemon verbena / island peach - such a bright and leafy scent with citrus and peach overtones.

watermelon / basil / sage / mint - this could pass for a spa-like scent, just a tad sweeter than the usuals....but so good. a grassy smelling watermelon works!

blueberry cobbler and blueberry muffins - okay. so I got both of these to see which blueberry was better and the definite answer is muffins. this particular blueberry cobbler oil is not good, it actually smells like cat pee. Not meltable at all. blueberry muffins is way superior. it's tart with sweet crumbles and pretty authentic to boot.

Glitterati's ordering system is not for everyone but they're certainly a vendor I like to order from whenever the chance arises. I don't mind the long wait or the Facebook only ordering because there's no drama to it. There's no wigging out about cart holds or site crashes on a regular basis. Mostly, Glitterati wax is just a solid performer in my house. I like having a stash to turn to when I want a reliable melt.

As I was proofreading this draft, it occurred to me that there were some unintended critiques of Glitterati. The messy wax (chunks), the lack of website ordering, some of the scent oils ....

Glitterati is not perfect. The wax is super soft (for chunks - there is a different and less soft consistency in the scent shots), ordering is tough and the current blueberry cobbler might need a replacement but let me make it clear that Glitterati wax is really, really good. And if you like to blend, they're one of the easiest vendors to come up with custom blends.
Stay tuned for Part Two - the chunks!

  1. So great to see you creeping around the waxy bloggy world again! =)

I have enjoyed the Glitterati that you and others have shared with me but yeah, I'm one of those who has no patience for that ordering system. What is the TAT like once you do get an order placed? And if you make it onto the list, how long is it before you get to order? Is there anywhere to see a scent list, or do you have to be in a Facebook group just to see it? *sigh* Why can't I just order wax? *criesandflees*

  2. @Deb - Once you are in position to have an order placed, TAT is usually within a couple of weeks because she's almost ready to work on your order when she contacts you (via FB). You message her anything you want and she gets to it. How long it takes from sign up to order depends on where you fall on the list and that's just luck because hundreds of people are "ME-ing" in a FB thread to be placed on the list at a predetermined time. The scent list is updated regularly and is a file in the group and you have to be in the group for all these things. Not ideal and Facebook is an absolute requirement.

  4. These photos Sunnee!!!! The wall of dreamy scent shots has me dazed. I am in awe of your order. I enjoy her scent shots the best too. Sorry your Blueberry Cobbler was off putting. We definitely got different oils on that one. I can barely do blueberry as it is, but cat pee blueberry is a no-go for sure. I am entirely too picky for fruits. I wish I wasn't. It is proving a hassle. LOL! Looking forward to seeing your chunks! I know the pics are going to knock me on my butt.

  5. Love love love this post! The pics, the blends....gah! I've only been able to get one mystery sampler from Glitterati and wasn't able to make the customs list but I did manage to get on the current mystery box list. Yay! Granted, I'm so far down the list I'll probably get my box in 2017 but whatever. I'll happily wait lol. My favorite scent ever from Glitterati is County Fair. It is simply amazing. Great haul Sunnee! I'm so glad to see posting again :)
